Some arty things are happening. Last week we bid farewell to Tony with a dinner at Olives and presented him with our gift: miniature paintings from each of the members of our painting group, 6+1 Art Group, matted. Tony was overwhelmed.

My grandson attended the March Break Art Program for children held at Gallery Lambton. He was very enthusiastic about his teacher and his work created there. Dave took the children into the main gallery to see the permanent collection of works by The Group of Seven. Quinn was impressed enough to tell me about this some days after the visit. We took him and sister Amy to the First Friday exhibition this weekend. Q was surprised that there was a new installation and Amy wanted to go to the room with the sand on the floor. That installation has been gone for a long time. Not as exciting for their age this time, though they did partake of the goodies offered.

The Gallery and in fact, the whole art scene is really coming alive here in Sarnia. A new arts magazine has just been launched, called Fix Magazine, that has just begun to capture in print, the activity here. The monthly magazine can be viewed at: http://www.fixmagazine.ca/
The SAW Winter Wednesday program continues at Ariel's workshop space and the programs offered have been great. Last week Kathy introduced clay jewellery making to some of our group and this week, Sharon is scheduled to give some 'how to' instruction in pastels. So much to experience!
I AM PAINTING. A few weeks ago, a painting that had been a major enigma, [see top left], really a learning curve, which had hung for several months in Olives, was returned. Though I'd loved the bright colours when it was painted, there was the problem of too much sky! Several learning curves later, the canvas holds a-close-to being finished new look. There are five buildings now rather than the original three and a lot more items that hopefully send your eye around the painting. The values have been adjusted and I think the painting has come alive. Still a lot of work left to do. How captivated I have been with this painting. Just one stroke, one area to be improved, I think, and hours later, I am surprised at the time that has passed. I have been painterly occupied. Love it!
Maybe it will never be done!
