BITS & BYTES

FRIDAY May 8 2009
Newsletter and other items for SAW were emailed out this morning. I explored painting.about.com's articles on Art Journals and then began photographing pages in my sketchbook/journals. I have several of different sizes and all of them have glaring white pages as well as forgotten entries. I think an electronic record will be easier to catalogue for quick retrieval so started taking photos from the pages of these books. Interesting. Finally, I gathered together some of the About.com article and some of my sketchbook page photos, and submitted these to the 6+1 Art blog.

Last month, I had looked over the course selection for St Lawrence College's Summer School of the Arts. There are three of interest, probably more, but it will be summer and we will be at the lake so there is some hesitancy. This afternoon, I called the college and punched in numbers and listened to recorded voices and left a recorded message to call me back. No sooner had I typed this than the phone rang. This June workshop is full and I am disappointed, but I am only fourth on the waiting list. It could happen.

SATURDAY May 9, 2009
The day is done. No painting, no sketching. The best I could do was replace a burnt out bulb in the 'studio' and dump some photos in my Art Reference folder on the computer.
I took a last minute peek at a blog I visit frequently which offered an interesting attitude toward sketchbooks. Two travelled with this artist as a preliminary step toward doing a painting. One was called 'scrappy' and the other was a moleskin. If you are interested in reading this blog,
